Auction stars

The BBC has an article about car auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona:
No fewer than five auction houses have decamped to this affluent enclave in the desert Southwest, wielding prime examples of sought-after collector cars.
Sales have been ongoing throughout the week. On of the most closely watched lots, a 1961 Porsche 718 RS 61 Spyder, achieved $2.75 million at RM Auctions’ sale on 16 January, which was below the vehicle’s low estimate.
Indeed, prices for collector cars have been wildly uneven in recent months; a record $27.5m price paid in August of 2013 for a competition Ferrari has not lifted all boats.
Herewith, a look at some of the most desirable cars that have crossed the block in Scottsdale, and many that still await their turn, just off the auction dais.
1965 Aston Martin DB5; pre-auction estimate: $525,000-$625,000.

1933 Packard Twelve Coupe Roadster; pre-auction estimate: $375,000-$475,000.

1930 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix; pre-auction estimate: $750,000-$900,000.

1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca de Ville by Park Ward; pre-auction estimate: $500,000-$700,000.

Rico says he can't afford any of them, and there are few he'd want, even if he had a couple million to spare. (Okay, okay, he'd take the Aston Martin, but it wouldn't have the machine guns and ejector seat... And he'd take the Bugatti or the Rolls, just because they're so pretty.)
