History for the day

On 11 September 2001, suicide hijackers crashed two airliners (photo) into the World Trade Center in New York City, causing the 110-story twin towers to collapse. Another hijacked airliner hit the Pentagon and a fourth, after passengers struggled with the hijackers, crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
