Rico says the ladyfriend (to his surprise) wanted to watch
The Password is Courage, released in 1962. It stars
Dirk Bogarde as a British officer, captured by the Germans, who tries everything he can to escape. In the process, amongst many other adventures he gets awarded the
Iron Cross! Based on a true story. That, of course, is reminiscent of
The Great Escape, released in 1963.

Steve McQueen,
James Garner,
Richard Attenborough,
James Donald,
Charles Bronson,
Donald Pleasence, and
James Coburn...
