Apple for the day

Daniel Politi has a Slate article about a new Apple product, maybe:

Apple is working on developing a smart watch, reports The New York TimesNick Bilton, writing it would be “in the form a curved glass device”. Bilton has scant details on the progress. He doesn’t even dare a guess on how advanced the company is in actually developing the watch or any kind of release schedule. And the only certainty on features is that it would operate on Apple’s iOS platform. Still, Bilton hears from two people familiar with the company who agree Apple is experimenting with the “wristwatch-like device” and the company wants to differentiate itself from competitors based on its understanding of how it can use glass that curves around the human body.
This is not the first time there have been rumors about a possible iWatch. Late last year, there was word that Apple was interested in a smart watch that Intel had developed that included a 1.5 inch display. Although it might be tempting to quickly dismiss the idea of an Apple watch, some have been predicting “the smartphone era will perish almost as quickly as it began”, and most agree that wearable computers will be the next big thing. A watch could be a way for Apple to remain on top of the game.

Rico says he no longer wears a wristwatch (using his iPhone as a clock), but might be tempted by an iWatch, just for the coolness factor...
