Earlier this week, 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin was kicked off of a flight for refusing to stop operating his cell phone while his delayed plane sat at the gate. Now, both American Airlines and Alec Baldwin have taken to the Internet to post their versions of the incident.
American Airlines’ posted on Facebook that Baldwin was so mad about the flight attendant’s directive to put away his phone that he went to the plane lavatory for some word-game privacy: "He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked."
Baldwin, meanwhile, offered an apology of sorts to his fellow passengers. In his Huffington Post piece, the actor manages to reference 9/11 and Howard Hughes despite seeming to single out one flight attendant as the cause of his temper tantrum: "The lesson I've learned is to keep my phone off when the 1950's gym teacher is on duty," he wrote. Baldwin claims that the flight attendant was rude and seemed to want to make an example of the actor, which "did get the better of" his self-control.
Baldwin tweeted about being booted from the plane just after it happened, but has since deactivated his Twitter account. 

American Airlines flight attendants want Alec Baldwin barred from future flights unless he apologizes to the crew that booted him off a flight earlier his week for refusing to put his phone away when asked. "We're very upset," Lonny Glover, a spokesman for the union that represents American Airlines flight attendants, told the New York Daily News. "He was very malicious and slanderous toward crew members in his comments."
The union also wants the Federal Aviation Administration to step in and fine Baldwin for opting to continue his game of Words With Friends instead of following rules governing the use of cell phones, and for the airline to cut 30 Rock episodes from its in-flight entertainment lineup.
Baldwin apologized to his fellow passengers after the event, but made it clear his apology did not extend to the airline or the flight attendant who confronted him about his cell phone use, who he called a "1950s gym teacher".
Glover and the rest of the union aren't actually the first group to ask for an apology from the actor as a result of the spat. That honor goes to Greyhound, the bus operator that Baldwin invoked when looking for a comparable travel experience when describing his feelings about traveling on American.
