Movie review for the day

Rico went with his friend Damon (a regular movie buddy) to see Captain America: The First Avenger. It was a bit florid and prone to hyperbole, but well worth seeing. The sets, computer-generated or real, were incredible, with a totally period-authentic look and feel. (Okay, okay, the Germans had some armored vehicles and aircraft and weapons never seen outside of the sketchbooks, but, hey, it's from a comic book, after all, and they were well done nevertheless.) There's a story somewhere about how they made the hero look small and skinny in the early part of the film, but you'll have to find it yourself, if you care.
The whole Red Skull thing had to be in there, given the comic book, but it wasn't overdone, and you didn't like Johann Schmidt anyway...
Tommy Lee Jones is getting old (hey, who among us isn't), but is as good as ever.
No sex scenes with Hayley Atwell, alas, but she's been doing a lot of television; she'll be back:
Stanley Tucci was great, but got croaked early on. (But how can he be eight years younger than Rico?)
Samuel L. Jackson had a teeny part as Nick Fury; he'll be back, too, though Fury wasn't black in the original comic book; there just weren't black combat soldiers in World War Two:
All in all, an enjoyable afternoon at the movies.
