Where did they go to school?

Rico says the media, including the much-vaunted New York Times, insists on doing things that would have gotten Rico an 'F' in his eighth-grade English class, like putting 'apostrophe-s' after words already ending in an 's' (even "The New York Times's", which surely they know better than to do), and failing to correctly spell easily looked-up place names, like Sana instead of the proper Sana'a for the capital of Yemen. (Hey, it's in fucking Google Maps...) Not to mention their inability to put 'al-' in front of 'Qaeda' (except when they do it as 'Al', which is really stupid; is there a Fred Qaeda?), which is related to their apparent unwillingness to put a 'the' in front of countries that require it, like the Sudan and the Ukraine; they wouldn't not put a the in front of the United States, would they? Thought not.
Rico, of course, blithely corrects all their bad grammar and spelling, because it galls him not to. (If they don't like it, they know where to reach him. He will, of course, explain patiently and carefully about the horse they rode in on...)
