Rico says the ladyfriend has been urging him (well, hectoring him, actually) to kill his Mozy backup plan and do something (anything) else that's not so expensive. At $4.95 a month, Rico thought it a reasonable investment.
Now, however, in their infinite wisdom, according to Harel Kodesh, its president, Mozy is increasing its fees to nearly $30 a month for the 250GB that Rico needs for his new (post-crash) Mac. In addition, their delivery of his backup files was, charitably, ridiculously stupid, even after paying $60 for a hard disk (full of folders within folders) and shipping.
Well, as they say, fuck that... For a mere $130 or so, Rico can buy a nice 500GB hard drive from Apple and do his own on-site backups, let alone just run the Time Machine he already owns. Problem (mostly) solved.
