Mac junkies, rejoice!

MacWorld has an article by Aayush Arya about the coming Macs:

For the past few days, rumors circulating around the Internet have Apple planning to host a press event on or around 24 March with new hardware— iMacs, Mac minis, Mac Pros, and Cinema Displays— the order of the day. After all, it’s been nearly two months since Apple last announced hardware, with Phil Schiller unveiling a 17-inch unibody MacBook Pro at January’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco.
But, on Monday, the tenor of the rumors changed. Several sites began claiming that we’d see new hardware of some sort as early as Tuesday. Indeed, as of this writing, the Apple Online Store is in snooze mode and all visitors are being treated to the “yellow sticky of excitement” (yes, I just made that up right now) that we have come to know and love. Going by the existence of those rumors and it being a Tuesday today, I expect that we are mere hours (if not minutes) away from seeing the newly updated Mac desktops.
Or, you know, it could just be a maintenance thing. That would be fun too, right? Right? Oh well.

Rico says the money's not there just now, so he'll have to wait, but some day... Yet her column has already, in the way of the internet, been superceded by events, as Jim Dalrymple's article on Macworld.com shows:

Apple on Tuesday refreshed its consumer iMac computer, with new 20-inch and 24-inch models. The 20-inch iMac features a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 memory, a 320GB Serial ATA hard drive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics.
With the 24-inch model you can get processors as fast as a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 memory, and a 640GB or 1TB Serial ATA hard drive. You also get a choice of the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics, NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 or ATI Radeon HD 4850 discrete graphics cards.
Apple said the 24-inch iMac delivers a 30 percent larger display than the previous generation machines.
Both iMac models come with a glossy display with a built-in iSight video camera, mic and speakers. The new iMac also includes a Mini DisplayPort connector, built-in AirPort Extreme 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Gigabit Ethernet, a total of six USB 2.0 ports (including two on the Apple Keyboard), and one FireWire 800 port.
The new iMacs are available immediately and cost $1,199 for the 20-inch and $1,499 for the 24-inch.
