Another tease from Apple

Ars Technica has an article by Erica Sadun about yet another 'maybe someday' Apple product:

Apple is at it again. Once again, the company is teasing us with a versatile tablet docking station, but we know what Apple's really after. Apple is indirectly offering up the hope of tablet computing beyond the iPhone before it once again smashes our Newton-deprived hearts. The filing represents "more of a brainstorming exercise than a specific plan".
The new filing shows numerous docking solutions, including landscape and portrait positioning, wireless inductive recharging, and over-the-air data transfer, with transmitters built into the dock. Imagine installing one of these next to your bed. Instead of messing with docking connectors, you just drop the iPhone or neoNewton tablet Mac into place and letting it lull you to sleep with music. By the next morning, it's synced, charged, and ready to go for the day.
Even though Apple has yet to deliver on a dockable tablet, it seems clear that the notion remains somewhere in the company's mind. "In larger handheld computing devices such as Tablet PCs," states the filing, "the inductive coils are generally configured to transmit between about 15-25 Watts of power. One advantage of planar-like electronic devices is that larger inductive coils may be used."
Apple, you are such a tease. Now please give us our Tablet PC. We've been waiting long enough.
