Morons abound, even in the UK

Courtesy of The Bayou Renaissanceman, the story of a punk in the UK who, for laughs, called the fire department three times; during the response, a fire truck hit a woman driving with her 10-year-old daughter. The mother was killed and the child injured. The fire truck, of course, was unhurt.
In his ruling, in which he was seriously limited in sentencing because of the caller-idiot's age (just 17), the judge said, commenting on the defendant's explanation to the police that he made the phone calls 'for a laugh' because he was bored, District Judge Foster said: 'I cannot think of a less apt reason being proffered by a defendant for committing an offence with the consequences this one had.'
