Sure, it's legal

The White House is claiming, not unexpectedly, that its 'waterboarding' interrogation technique is legal, according to the LA Times. For those who've been on another planet for the last year, that's where you put a cloth over someone's face, pour water all over it, and wait for them to decide to start talking.
Legal? Sure. Execution is legal. But that doesn't make it not torture.
In a lame attempt to justify it, a "senior US intelligence official" made reference to the waterboarding that US airmen have been subjected to in survival training: "Tens of thousands of American Air Force and naval airmen were waterboarded as part of their survival training," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "We don't maim as part of our training. We don't mutilate. We don't sodomize. Those are things that are always bad."

Rico says he's happy they're doing it, but he does feel a smidgen bad for those poor dumb sumbitches who get it done to them... (But 'we don't sodomize'? Now there's a desperate plea for legitimacy.)

Rico also says he wants the Dutch to try it on Joran van der Sloot; that should clear up that mystery in about five minutes...
