Movie for the day: DI

Rico and the fiancée watched Deep Impact, starring Morgan Freeman (photo) as the President, and Robert Duvall as the oddly-named Spurgeon Tanner, who ends up saving the Earth, if not himself:

Unless a comet can be destroyed before colliding with Earth, only those allowed into shelters will survive.

Rico says a little tedious in spots, but worth watching. Bit parts by Vanessa Redgrave, Maximilian Schell, and Elijah Wood. But how prescient were they, in 1998, making the President a black man?
