The
BBC has an
article by
Tom Brook about the next
Bond:
In recent press interviews, Daniel Craig (photo) has given the impression that he’s not keen on continuing in the role of James Bond. So who will be the next actor to play 007?
According to Lee Pfeiffer, editor-in-chief of Cinema Retro magazine, the main qualification for an actor playing Bond is that “he has to know how to act. They’ve never had a poor actor in that role. Second of all, obviously, you have to be a fairly handsome guy.”
But it’s more than just a pretty face: Bond is a multi-dimensional character, and any future actor playing the role has to portray his depth. Fans’ choices include Tom Hiddleston, Damian Lewis, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba.
Brook found out what people think about a black actor playing Bond. “It would be fantastic,” says the actor Matthew Rhys. “The thing about Bond is he it has evolved. Fleming created something that has evolved magically.”
Rico says he hopes they don't pick some off-the-wall actor (female or non-Caucasian, like
Idris Elba) just to be different... (But
never had a poor actor in that role?
Brook obviously didn't watch the
Roger Moore movies...)
