Oops (romantic) for the day

The Slatest has an article by Ben Mathis-Lilley about a romantic gesture gone wrong:
In 1999 the Onion wrote a story, one of its all-time greats, with the headline Romantic-Comedy Behavior Gets Real-Life Man Arrested. In 2015, fiction sort of became reality in Denver, Colorado:
Marc Rehmar, 58, was charged with endangering public transportation and hindering transportation, according to a news release from Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey.
Rehmar is accused of pushing open a secure emergency exit on a concourse on 6 August 2015 and running onto the ramp area to try to stop a plane that was being pushed back from the gate, the release said.
Authorities have not actually said what motivated Rehmar, but presumably it involved making "a huge mistake" regarding someone who he'd "loved since the moment he first set eyes on her". He's scheduled to appear in court on Friday, possibly in the company of an exasperated but understanding best friend, portrayed by Luis Guzmán.
Rico says that love makes people do stupid things, but do not do them in an airport...
