Another Republican idiot

Rico knows 'Republican idiot' is redundant, but Ben Mathis-Lilley has a Slate article about the latest stupidity:

Ted Cruz apologized for making mocking remarks about Vice President Joe Biden, whose son Beau died Saturday of brain cancer, at an event in Michigan. The pro-Democratic Party American Bridge 21st Century PAC has since posted a video (above) of Cruz's comments:

You know Vice President Joe Biden.
You know the nice thing? You don't need a punchline!
I promise you it works; the next party you're at, just walk up to someone, say: Vice President Joe Biden, and just close your mouth. They will crack up laughing!
Biden says: "If anyone attacks your house, just go outside with a double-barreled shotgun and fire both barrels in the air." Now, that is very, very good advice, if you're being attacked by a flock of geese.

Cruz has used the same lines in past appearances, and in his apology said he had made a mistake in telling "an old joke about Joe Biden during his time of grief".

Rico says it's a pretty good joke, just bad timing... (And a double-barreled shotgub is Rico's weapon of choice for late-night confrontations, but not to be fired into the air...)
