Idiot politician for the day

The New York Times has an article about him by Kimberley McGee and Adam Nagourney:

A Reno, Nevada newspaper disclosed that Ira Hansen, the speaker-elect of the Assembly, had written published remarks full of derogatory remarks about blacks, women, Latinos, and gays.

Rico says he knows that 'idiot' and 'politician' are redundant, but this guy takes the proverbial cake; who, in this age, would actually say, let alone publish, stuff like that?
