On 24 March 1989, the nation's worst oil spill occurred, as the supertanker Exxon Valdez (photo) ran aground on a reef in Alaska's Prince William Sound and began leaking eleven million gallons of crude.

Rico says it's another 'lest we forget' moment, and smacks of the hubris of the Costa Concordia...
