Movie review for the day

Rico says he and the ladyfriend went to see Philomena, starring Judi Dench (photo, left), whom Rico would watch read the phone book, and Steve Coogan (photo, right):
A world-weary political journalist picks up the story of a woman's search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent.
It is, of course, a condemnation of the attitudes and behavior of the Catholic Church (the childhood religion of the ladyfriend, since abandoned), especially in Ireland. There's also a bit of gay nonbashing (her son was gay, and died of AIDS).

Rico says, in the immortal words of Joe Bob Briggs: check it out. Then put some slugs in the collection plate the next time you go to Mass...
