Rico says the 'missing' hour of dinner with the French hold-outs (photo) that the
Redux version put back into
Apocalypse Now had been appropriately left on the cutting room floor;
Coppola knew that it was too slow and boring for American audiences.
Rico suffered through it, just to have seen it, but it's painful... (Not that the rest of the now-over-four-hour movie, bloated and self-important like its director, was
really worth rewatching.)
