Rico can't get (even using Kickstarter) under a quarter-million dollars for Zone of Fire, but Zach Braff’s Kickstarter campaign for indie drama Wish I Was Here closed after raising $3.1 million in thirty days, including over $400,000 in the final four days.
The campaign raised the funds from 46,520 fans with pledges from ten dollars for T-shirts and production notes, to two $10,000 pledges: one for the slate used on the film signed by the cast, and the other for being a cast member, with Braff promising to put the donor in a scene with a spoken line.
“We’d like to shoot in August in Los Angeles, so if you would like a walk on role to complement your credit, you’ll need to be available then,” Braff explained. “You will provide your own travel and accommodation.”
Besides Braff, the cast includes Kate Hudson, Mandy Patinkin, Anna Kendrick, Jim Parsons and Josh Gad. Worldview Entertainment signed on last week to provide gap financing to Wish I Was Here.
Rico says he hereby announces that anyone pledging ten grand to Zone of Fire will not only get a scene with a spoken line, Rico will put them up in a cheap motel down the street from the iHop, and buy breakfast on the day of their big scene...
