Gubs for the day

Rico says this doggerel is from his childhood friend Robert:
>
> The following is dedicated to you upon obtaining your sixty-second year. The friendship of a decent man is a gift and a treasure beyond all price.
>
> HOW TO SHOOT A GUN, pt. 1
> (Or: Point it in the Right Direction)
>
> Now shootin' guns, don't ya know,
> Ain't as simple as ya might suppose-
> There's the weapon itself, and what goes in,
> And where ya got such pieces 'o tin
> Followed by where either were made-
> Why all too soon , it's a great parade!
> And to feed them all, that's quite a trick
> And heal them all, both the injuried and sick?
> And the farmers, and makers of diverse things,
> The lists grow endless, with too many strings:
> For it's taken the whole of history to grow
> Those things called guns, as we've come to know.
> No, don't think of shooting as simple at all
> But, rather as power devolved to the small!
> Use the power well. Know which targets ya shoot
> And what's behind that, should it go through-and-through.
> Make sure before committing some deeds,
> That only a shooting can fulfill your needs.
> For they are only tools, both ammo and guns
> And tools left alone can't get a job done
> They've no motivation, can't act on thier own.
> This you must supply, so practice at home
> But these most of all, say the great and the full
> Know why you're shooting, before triggers get pulled
> Don't jerk it now, not even to sneeze...
> Exhale half a breath, then squeeze.
