Strange bedfellows

Politics may make 'em, but some are stranger than others, as Ankita Rao explains in Slate:
Here's something of a surprise: evangelical televangelist Pat Robertson wants the federal government to legalize marijuana. Really.
"I really believe we should treat marijuana the way we treat beverage alcohol," Robertson said in an interview with The New York Times. "I’ve never used marijuana and I don’t intend to, but it’s just one of those things that I think: this war on drugs just hasn’t succeeded."
The paper reports that The 700 Club host has hinted at his support for legalization as far back as 2010, but that those remarks went mostly unnoticed or ignored by watchers of his television show. But he was back at it again last week on the Christian Broadcasting Network and then, to eliminate any doubt about his pro-legalization position, sat down with the Times.
In the interview, the 81-year-old then went on to argue that decriminalizing the drug would bring down costs of jail time and penalties, earning him special brownie points with groups like Law Enforcement Against Prohibition and the Drug Policy Alliance. "I believe in working with the hearts of people, and not locking them up," he said.
Rico says those would undoubtedly be marijuana-brownie points... (And doesn't he look stoned?)
