That's cold, no matter where you are

Rico says that Serbia hasn't really been considered a winter wonderland, but Ankita Rao has an article in The New York Times about some currently cold folks there:

Eastern Europe's deep freeze has taken its toll on many, but among the hardest hit are the roughly eleven thousand villagers trapped in Serbia's mountains by heavy snow and blizzard conditions.
The Associated Press reports that the stranded are spread out among 6,500 or so homes in remote areas and, while authorities believe most have the food they need to survive until spring, emergency crews are rushing to try to clear the way to particularly remote areas in need of supplies.
The current cold spell has left much of Eastern Europe frozen, with temperatures dropping below -22 degrees Fahrenheit in Poland and elsewhere. But portions of Serbia have fared even worse, with at least one town in the southwestern corner of the country seeing 26 days of freezing temperatures and/or snow.
The snowy stalemate has caused power outages and traffic jams in Poland, the Ukraine, and the Czech Republic as well, and authorities have said that the death toll from the freezing temps now stands at 122, many of them homeless who were left without proper shelter from the conditions.
