Serial stupidity

Rico says that, due to the inability of The New York Times and others to get it, alas, it's time to reiterate Rani Cochran's explanation (which she provided when we both worked for Apple) of the reason for the serial comma, with this (real) book dedication:

She wished to thank her parents, Ayn Rand and God.

Imagine how differently that would read with a comma after 'Rand'...
