King Nikita (who reigned from 1910 to 1918) declared, in a Royal Act, that "every male citizen of Montenegro is a member of the militia, and therefore is not only justified but also obliged to possess at least one Gasser pattern revolver." (The fact that the king was a major shareholder of the firm of Leopold Gasser, whose revolver is illustrated below, may have had something to do with his pronouncement.)
