Rico says it's a rare thing for him to turn off a movie, any movie, and have no intention of coming back to finish it, but he did just that halfway through Viva Maria! last night.
Given the leading ladies, Jeanne Moreau and Brigitte Bardot, and directed by Louis Malle, how could it be bad?
First off, it wasn't funny enough to be a comedy, nor dramatic enough to be a good drama, and it took forever to get to the Revolution, which was supposed to be the big deal. Even (in a surprise role) the young George Hamilton, as Flores the revolutionary, was abysmal, and he got killed halfway through anyway.
All in all, not worth watching, even for the ladies (who do take their clothes off, professionally). Rico, alas, gives it a big thumbs down...
