A photo of Charles Gavin, who moved to Brazil after the Civil War, becoming one of the
Confederados, who formed a large (in the thousands) exile community there. They settled primarily in the southern Atlantic coastal region of the country, in Americana, Campinnas, Sao Paulo, Juquia, New Texas, Xiririca, Rio de Janeiro, and Rio Doce; their descendants still reside in Brazil.
