Truman Seymour (24 September 1824 to 30 October 1891) was an a career soldier and an accomplished painter. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War, rising to the rank of brigadier general. He commanded the Union troops at the Battle of Olustee, the largest Civil War battle fought in Florida. Seymour was born in Burlington, Vermont. Seymour spent his retirement in Europe. He painted much in watercolor, and died while living in Florence, Italy. He was buried there in the
Cimitero Evangelico degli Allori.
