Being famous helps, as does famous money

The New York Daily News has an article by Larry McShane about some famous fisticuffs:
A carefree Kiefer Sutherland hit the streets of Manhattan Friday, one day after he was charged with breaking a fashion designer's nose in a SoHo nightspot. The star of 24, a cigarette in his mouth and sunglasses perched on his nose, ducked out of his girlfriend's West Village apartment as Jack McCollough recovered from his head-butt injuries.
The designer's medical records were turned over to police after what McCollough maintains was an unprovoked assault that broke his still-bandaged nose in three places. He's "pissed off and annoyed that this all happened," a source told People.com. "He has a collection to do, and has no time to deal with this."
Sutherland, best known for his portrayal of Jack Bauer, was charged with misdemeanor assault in the incident. He received a desk appearance ticket Thursday and walked out of the 1st Precinct stationhouse.
The designer from the high-end Proenza Schouler fashion house has not indicated if he will pursue a lawsuit against Sutherland. The actor could face other legal woes: He remains on five years probation from a 2007 drunken driving arrest. The Los Angeles district attorney will determine whether the head-butt constitutes a violation worthy of returning Sutherland to jail. He served 48 days on his conviction, the second DUI against Sutherland in three years.
The head-butting occurred in SubMercer, a trendy nightspot in the basement of the Mercer Hotel. Sutherland's camp said he slammed his head into McCollough's nose after the designer unapologetically bumped into actress Brooke Shields. But the victim insisted the attack was "vicious, violent and unprovoked."
Rico says it's something he's long wanted to do to certain people, but even his known deficits wouldn't prevent an assault charge, so he's had to forego the pleasure...
