On Thursday, the Abraham Lincoln Foundation of the Union League of Philadelphia celebrated the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth with Lincoln Day 2009. Among the day’s festivities were a 21-gun salute, a reading of the Gettysburg Address by a Lincoln re-enactor, the presentation of the Lincoln Award to Peter Nero and a parade to Independence Hall, where a wreath-laying ceremony occurred.
Rico says Friday's eleven o'clock news had the Civil War reenactors out for the Union League parade in downtown Philadelphia. Photos came in on Saturday of both Lincoln (an impersonator, of course, Lincoln having been dead for 144 years) and a salute fired by reenactors.
