Another great one gone

The father of my oldest-and-dearest-friend, Alan Brecher, died last Saturday after a long struggle with being old.
Melvin Brecher was, in addition to being a very sweet man, a good father, a loving husband, and a co-founder (the 'B') of GBQC, a renowned Philadelphia architectural firm, a veteran of World War Two.
He was a bombardier in a B-17, and flew many missions (without getting shot down) over Germany. He would have looked like these guys, and the view out the nose cone is how he would have seen the world for three years:

I shall miss him.
