Rico says he always approaches a new Elmore Leonard novel with both trepidation and respect, fearing that the master must eventually lose his touch. This book wasn't that one, but close. Way too many characters, whom Rico had trouble keeping track of in his head, yet a classic Elmore book, full of juicy dialog and complicated who's-doing-what-to-whom plotting.
Rico says check it out. He did, from the library. (And, in Rico's classic 'hey, I was there' style, did he ever tell you the story about meeting Elmore Leonard? Well, it
was a book signing, so it wasn't hard, but he does have a couple of the earlier books with the master's signature in them...)
