And Rico thought Rico had it bad

My mother sends me clippings; this one was from (I think) Newsweek, about a Canadian writer, the "dean of Canadian mystery writers", Howard Engel. He writes a series with Benny Cooperman as the lead character. But seven years ago he suffered a stroke that left him unable to comprehend the letters used to write English at all. For a writer, that's bad. He's now written two new Cooperman novels by dictating them (not a simple trick in itself). He's incorporated his own deficits into his character, however, by giving Cooperman a blow to the head. Check them out here. He's also written, with the famous Oliver Sacks (played by Robin Williams in the movie), a book called The Man Who Forgot Who to Read.

Rico says buy his stuff. The guy can use the money. So can I, so buy my books, too. Thanks.
