Ice cold, it seems. The Phoenix spacecraft, sent to Mars to see if there is still ice under the surface, blew a few inches of overburden off with its retro-rockets and revealed... ice.
"The find means at the very least that real, liquid water-- absolutely essential for life as we know it-- could have existed on the Red Planet when it was warmer millions or billions of years ago, and suggests that Mars may once have had a habitable environment."
Rico says he is waiting for the first Martians to walk up and inspect the lander...
