Seems an Iranian couldn't get asylum in Norway. Then he discovered that Spitsbergen had no residence requirements. (In terms of a 1920 treaty Svalbard, whilst under Norwegian control, is an international zone requiring no visas.) Off he went.
How to make a living? Get your brother, in asylum in Germany, to ship you a used Army field kitchen truck, call it the 'Red Polar Bear', and make money hand over fist. (Seems kebabs and hamburgers are a huge improvement over the traditional whale blubber and seal meat.)
Rico says the Norwegians are missing a bet, not giving this guy a visa. Smarts and determination like that are why immigrants (well, some of them, anyway) made America what it is today.
