3 billion to one; guess who wins

"China says it is engaged in a life and death struggle with the Dalai Lama over Tibet", according to a Voice of America on-line article. In just the sort of self-aggrandizement we've come to expect from the Chinese, they're planning on taking the Olympic torch to the top of Everest (or thereabouts, depending on weather) on its way to Beijing.
Tibet's government-in-exile says at least 99 people have been killed in unrest over the past week. It says the death toll includes 19 Tibetans who were shot dead by security forces Tuesday in new protests in Gansu province. Human rights groups have released photographs that show Tibetans allegedly shot and killed by security forces in China's western province of Sichuan.

Rico says he'll stick with the Dalai Lama on this one; the Chinese aren't known for playing nice or fair...
