A date that will live in infamy

It is the 7th of December, after all... "The Japanese attack, which killed 2,403 Americans, jarred the country out of its isolationist lull... The effect was significant. But compared to the Battle of the Bulge, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima, the attack on Pearl Harbor was a minor battle. U.S. casualties in those other battles ranged as high as 72,000 men."
So, fewer people died at Pearl Harbor than in the collapse of the World Trade Center. Yet we went on to pursue the Germans (who had nothing to do with it) and the Japanese for nearly three and a half more years, at an unbelievable cost in dollars and men, and finally ended up dropping two atomic bombs on those responsible.
Now that is a war on terror... We just didn't call it that in those days.
Imagine the outcry by those wearing pink ribbons if we took 72 casualties, let alone 72,000, in any operation against those who attacked us in 2001...
