Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. If you haven't, read his books on the war. An excellent writer, who was in the thick of things at Little Round Top at Gettysburg. He went all the way to the end in Mississippi, too, so it wasn't just a one-shot deal with him. An interesting man, and a good officer.
